Hey! Nice To Meet You!

Welcome to Villa Nangka – a unique hidden gem at the heart of Gili Air. Our dream was to create a unique place on a tropical island. Since we opened the doors of our little paradise we’ve been awarded every year with a ‘Certificate of Excellence’ by Tripadvisor and received the Airbnb ‘Super Host’ badge 20 times in a row!

Respect for Mother Earth is at the heart of our core values. We strive for a greener approach and recognize the importance of a sustainable future. We commit ourselves to reduce our direct impact on the environment.

When staying in Villa Nangka you will discover how bamboo can be combined in all shapes and patterns to create a stunning collection of luxurious ceilings, stairs, and railings. The prow-like curve of the roof line, the visible strength of the beams, the graceful swoop of the railings, every detail is a reminder of Nature’s possibilities. And the amazing thing about building with bamboo is that it is a wonderful, natural, and renewable resource, capable of rapid growth that can avoid future deforestation of our precious tropical rainforests.

Our little paradise is a place where you will immediately feel at home and where we will make sure your stay will be a memorable and unforgettable one! What are you still waiting for? Book your flight and visit us in paradise!

Our Story

Once upon a time, 2012 to be exact, a girl named Rose arrived on Gili Air in Indonesia and instantly fell in love with this magical island. She found a job as a scuba dive instructor and started calling the ocean her office. She found a secret getaway in the middle of the island called Villa Nangka and started calling it her home. And there, under the Nangka tree, she fell in love again.

“ I didn’t plan on falling in love with him. And I’m pretty sure he didn’t plan on falling in love with me. But one day it was pretty clear that neither of us could control what was happening to us.”

The name of the man that stole her heart was Andreas. A freedive instructor that came to the island in the same year as she did. In September 2015 we found out that Villa Nangka, the place that we both call home, the place where we fell in love, was for sale. We looked at each other and started dreaming about how amazing it would be if they could buy the place. But with hardly any savings, no fixed contracts, and no assets, which bank would be so nice to give them a loan? Continue reading our story here.

When walking take the main road leading from the pier into the island. Walk to the end, turn right and after 20 meters left again. Keep walking straight for around 5 minutes, Villa Nangka will be on your right hand side. Click here for a Google maps link with the directions from the harbor.
